Dr. Thompson has always been an active volunteer in the community. Some of her activities and
interests include: Youth Friends, fund-raising auctions, scholarship advisor at UMKC, inner-city school
renovation projects, Cardiac Arrest Response Team member, book club, tennis, and golf. Dr.
Thompson is married to Doug Thompson who maintains an orthodontic practice in town. They have
three young children; a daughter and two sons.

Dr. Thompson’s philosophy is to seek the highest quality periodontal care for her patients by a
th
orough understanding of the latest research findings while treating each patient like they are part
of the family. Cutting edge therapy; old fashioned customer service.
Dr. Kelley Thompson is a native of the Kansas City area.
She graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1986,
then attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City,
graduating in 1990. She went on to attend dental school
at  UMKC; finishing in 1994. Dr. Thompson then completed
an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at
Baylor Dental College in Dallas. From 1995-1997 she
completed  her  residency in Periodontics at UMKC. Dr.
Thompson has over five years of teaching experience as
an Associate Professor in the graduate periodontics
department at UMKC School of Dentistry.

Dr. Kelley Thompson is active in several dental
organizations including the American Dental Association,
American Academy of Periodontics,  Greater Kansas City
Periodontics Association, and Fifth District Dental Society.
She has published several research papers including
research on the link between systemic health and
periodontal disease. She has been a research assistant in
the Oral Pathology Department at UMKC and in the Special
Patient Care Clinic at UMKC. Dr. Thompson also assists
companies with new materials to treat periodontal disease.
